This past year has been blast making cool projects with fun, talented friends. When Bridget held our first meeting about this one year studio, we thought she was crazy wanting to do this. This experience was not meant to make a profit, but create a few cool projects with some great memories. What was nice about this studio experiment, was that we all could voice our opinions openly, pitch ideas of projects we really wanted to work on, and made sure everyone could participate in roles they enjoyed most. But overall, everyone had a voice that could be heard and not be put down for them. I’m so happy and honored to have been able to participate in this experience. Everyone in this group has become more of a family to me than just good friends, and I’ll miss our shenanigans, sharing funny stories, and simply collaborating with each other to make awesome stuff.
Before the beginning of each project, we all pitched ideas of films, games or whatnot to make. One pitch of mine was selected to be made for one of our 1 month sprint projects. These one month projects were great to allow us to learn how to work well with one another and manage out production.
My pitch was to make a non-linear interactive story game using Twine. All I knew at the beginning was that it would be about a Corgi. After all the story pitches were done, we settled with Detective Corgi and the Mysterious Mansion. I learned so much from the project to be a director. I have a whole video about the experience on youtube you can watch. Link to video
My favorite projects was Eggtoast and Feathers and Teeth production. Eggtoast was great since we all had to do was follow the guideline of selecting a portion of the music video we wanted to make content for and make it fallow the beat. It also had to be related to hot pot in some way. It was nice since there was no restrictions of style and could set up our own deadlines. We just had to be finished with our select by a certain time.
Feathers and Teeth was my second favorite project. It was an interesting story and I loved seeing everyone’s work in the performance.
Now this crazy adventure is over, I’ll be using my free time to continue working on my portfolio to get into shading and texturing. You can find my work at Amandazoriannacook.com or Zoriannaarts on Instagram.
Overall, I’m so happy to be a part and going to miss Broom Cupboard Studios.
